At our house we love April Fool's Day. We sure had a fun day this year. Xander's old enough to play jokes and understand the one's we're playing and it made it really fun. We had a big snow storm that day and the first thing I said to him was "Merry Christmas! See all the snow..." He was so funny. "April Fool's!" I said and then from there on, he was fooling everyone all day. His first joke was on Uncle TJ, "Merry Christmas!" Then he called his Dad and left him a message that said his truck was made out of nuts. LOL, I know, kids are so funny. Anyway, that afternoon, the boys had Hunter and Jace over for a little April Fool's Day Adventure. First we made "spy glasses" out of egg cartons. They turned out pretty cute. Then while they were drying, we had an afternoon snack. Grilled cheese sandwiches, green peas, bird's nests and pee (I know, gross, but I couldn't think of anything else to call it). April Fool's! It was really pound cake with orange colored frosting, green laffy taffy's, chocolate covered chow mein noodles and yellow colored water. The boys loved it! Next we went on a photo scavenger hunt. I really wanted to do it outside, but the weather didn't cooperate, so inside it was. The boys did awesome! Xander and Hunter are reading so well! They had a lot of fun and Max and Jace followed behind. They thought they were so cool being with the big boys. It was a great activity for the kids and we had a lot of fun. Later that night for dinner I made cupcakes.....meatloaf cupcakes that is. I wish I'd have gotten a picture. They turned out really neat. I just made individual meatloafs in a cupcake pan. Then I put blue food coloring in mashed potatoes. Put the potatoes on top of the meatloafs. Then I put them in cupcake wrappers. We took the leftovers over to my parents. They were so funny, they really thought they were cupcakes, until they took a closer look. We had a great day! I love my kids so much and was so glad to spend the day with them! They are the light of my life and I don't know what I'd do without them!
